Now that Queer Up North is fin­ished until 2010, and I’m over the inev­it­able post-festival ill­ness, I got back to the gym for the first time in three weeks. And I’m as weak as a kitten.

Now, I didn’t expect to be at full strength. I’ve dropped 22lbs in weight since the begin­ning of Feb­ru­ary, and of course some of that has been muscle. How­ever, 9lbs of that were lost dur­ing the fest­ival itself, and so much so fast has meant the loss was a bit uncontrolled.

But it’s the first time ever I’ve hit a tar­get like this! And the next tar­get is on some ways easier– add back 10lbs, but this time as muscle. The main trick here will be con­vin­cing my body that it shouldn’t store any excess cal­or­ies as fat but rather use them to build up instead.

So things have gone pretty well, really. Who knows? I might be con­fid­ent enough to be able to sun­bathe in pub­lic by the end of the summer.
