Starting off at the gym again
Now that Queer Up North is finished until 2010, and I’m over the inevitable post-festival illness, I got back to the gym for the first time in three weeks. And I’m as weak as a kitten.
Now, I didn’t expect to be at full strength. I’ve dropped 22lbs in weight since the beginning of February, and of course some of that has been muscle. However, 9lbs of that were lost during the festival itself, and so much so fast has meant the loss was a bit uncontrolled.
But it’s the first time ever I’ve hit a target like this! And the next target is on some ways easier– add back 10lbs, but this time as muscle. The main trick here will be convincing my body that it shouldn’t store any excess calories as fat but rather use them to build up instead.
So things have gone pretty well, really. Who knows? I might be confident enough to be able to sunbathe in public by the end of the summer.
